In Sardinia, Prof. Gianluigi Bacchetta and his work group have been busy in recent days with the eradication of the invasive alien species 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘴 in a portion of land of more than 2000 square meters and in the planting of 30 seedlings of 𝙇𝙞𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙪𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙢 – a very rare endemic that lives only on Caprera – in the soil now free from the invasive plant.
The seedlings were grown in the Sardinian Germplasm Bank, which preserves the region’s plant genetic heritage.
