As anticipated in the past few weeks, we finally show you one of our very first photos of 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙞, a small, extremely rare native orchid that we are reproducing in the Centro Flora Autoctona.
The sowing process is very delicate, both due to the tiny size of the seeds and because it is necessary to work in sterile conditions to avoid the formation of molds or colonies of bacteria in the culture medium.
The image shows the first stages of seed development: small protocorms and larger protocorms with thin rhizoids.
The propagation of 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙞 is carried out by the CFA with the collaboration of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences – Production, Territory, Agroenergy (DiSAA) of the University of Milan.
As part of our project, the colleagues of the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences of the University of Tuscia and of the Banca del Germoplasma of UniTus are also obtaining excellent results, also using seeds from Trentino populations collected by the staff of the Muse (Trentino Seed Bank).
