Objective: to raise awareness among young people about the importance of climate change and biodiversity.
During the fair organised by the Faculty of Science of the University of Malta, approximately 200 eighth graders (11/12 years) from 10 different schools were involved in the following activities:
Seed Cleaning: Students sorted seeds based on size, shape, and color, mimicking seed bank preparation techniques. They also learned how to separate viable seeds from debris, learning how cleanliness is critical to preservation.
Plant Life Cycle Game: Through a card game, the children explored the growth stages of plants, from germination to seed production.
Interactive activities stimulated curiosity and awareness, highlighting the essential role of seed banks in protecting biodiversity and supporting the ecological restoration of endangered native plant species.
