Thanks to an interregional team coordinated by the University of Padua, our project partner, the first reintroductions of 𝙆𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙯𝙠𝙮𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨 in the Gran Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve. The “Boscone” of Mesola, in the Po Delta of Ferrara, represents one of the rare remnants of lowland forest, a precious testimony of the ancient forests that once extended along the Adriatic coast. In this extraordinary habitat, the 𝙆𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙯𝙠𝙮𝙖 plants – coming from the Montecchio Precalcino (VI) nursery – were planted in areas safe from unwanted visits by deer thanks to specially positioned nets.
