La Maddalena archipelago: in the only Italian site of Limonium strictissimum, the target species of our project, the UNICA team continues the eradication activity of Carpobrotus sp. pl., succulent species native to South Africa, among the most invasive in the coastal ecosystems of the Mediterranean.
They are manually eradicated, taking care not to damage the native flora and minimizing soil movement and erosion.
To reduce the biomass before disposal, the removed material is transported to special collection areas and left to dry without the risk of propagation. In the last photo, you can see the material collected a year ago and now completelyΒ dry.
